(More customer reviews)We bought this heat mat for a 20-foot ramp we have that is at a slope of about twice what is federally required if you need it for handicapped access--which, fortunately, we do not. Our ramp has a peculiar problem in that it is immediately below a gutter, which overflows and in the winter thaws, drips, ices, thaws, drips...then freezes directly on our ramp. This heat mat has solved our problem completely. It looks and feels like it's made of hard rubber with wavy grooves. We've only used it for the past couple of months, so we can't speak to long-term reliability and wear-and-tear. But for as long as we have had it, it is reliable and works well. The grip is good underfoot, the current is just enough to melt snow and ice but not too high, it's super easy to turn on and off, and we are very happy with it. The cord is about 6 feet (I think), If you have a nearby outdoor outlet you'll be set. If not, you might have to get an extension cord. If you do, try to make it only long enough to reach an outdoor outlet, but not much longer or you'll have to roll it up and keep it out of the way. Make sure you cover the outlet/plug and any connections with any extension cords. Judging by our experience, we would recommend this without reservation. By the way, the price from Amazon beat the price from Home Depot and everywhere else!
