If you've tried one of the older versions of the OXO squirting palm brushes and weren't that impressed, now is the time to give the new version a try. I've bought probably six of these OXO brushes over the past ten years. They're incredibly effective and generally work great, until the bristles on the brush wear down. Then you have little choice but to buy a new one.

OXO has finally realized that making a brush with replaceable brush heads makes a lot more sense. Now when the bristles wear down (as they eventually do with any brush) just twist off the old brush, twist on a new one and voila!, you have a brand new brush. They make interchangeable plastic mesh scrubbing and sponge pad bottoms too.

This is the perfect solution for college students who don't have the luxury of filling an entire sink full of soapy water to do the dishes. I used this daily in school and still do because its so convenient, just press the button to dispense a generous amount of dish soap and scrub away.

For those of you who might of tried a previous version of this brush, here's a brief history:

The original brush worked well except for the plunger soap release mechanism. If the scrubber was under water when the soap release button was pressed, water would leak into the soap compartment. Gradually the soap would be diluted to the point that the soap compartment was filled with water. Some of these earlier versions often had problems with the lid fitting too loosely and soap leaking out all over the place.

The second generation of the OXO scrub brush fixed the problem of water leakage by using a squirting mechanism to release soap instead. This worked great at first until after a few squirts a vacuum would form in the soap dispenser and then the soap would no longer come out. Then you would have to unscrew the top to release the vacuum before it would work again.

This newer version fixes all of these previous problems. It works like a dream, looks better and has replaceable brushes. What is there not to like? Buy one, you won't be sorry you did.

(The benefit of this product lies in the soap dispensing ability, if it is not being used for dispensing soap, then its no different than any other regular brush. Just shake the brush out after each use to get rid of the water in the bristles and you won't have any problems with mildewing.)
