(More customer reviews)From the photo, it appears that this over-the-sink cutting board is cut from one piece of wood. Instead, the cutting board is made up of strips of wood ranging from 1 1/2" to 3" in width.I have not had much luck with cutting boards made up from pieces of wood, as they tend to split.However, it is made in the U.S.A., and appears to be sturdily crafted.
The basket is oval (6" x 9 1/2").This is a nice feature, as it gives you more room on the cutting board to cut.
The wire basket sits higher than the cutting board. I do not like this feature. The basket should have been recessed. When you sweep your chopped carrots into the basket, you have to lift them over the lip of the basket.
The board fits nicely over my double sink, which is standard-sized for kitchens in homes made in the 1980s.I could not line up my faucet to position it over the wire basket, which I would have preferred.The faucet ended up positioned over the wood.Your sink and faucet design will vary.
This board is too heavy for me.I am returning it and ordering an MIU France Large Bamboo Cutting Board instead.
UPDATE: After the MIU France Large Bamboo Cutting Board cracked during shipping (I posted pix for you to view) I decided to try the Medium/Small MIU France bamboo cutting board.
