(More customer reviews)We bought this item for our steep driveway, so that we can cut down on heavy shoveling during large snowstorms. It is enough to melt the snow to allow one side of your car tires to roll over and gain enough traction to get up the hill.The heat is barely noticeable. If you place a ball of snow on it it will not melt instantly but rather over 10-20 minutes. We keep this outdoors all winter and it is very sturdy. It is also very heavy to pull out from storage. If you are a petite person you will need another person to help you carry this out to the walk. For this winter we used it in front of our house to clear a walkway from the street to the front door. Melts snow perfectly and even dries a rim of concrete all around it. No more slipping on ice or slushing through snow!
